DORC/CLUC 2025

By

At DORS/CLUC 2025, Juraj Vijtiuk of Sartura will present 33-Hour Rescue Mission – StarDENT Insider Tales, a technical deep dive into building and operating StarDENT—a fully open source, Linux-based network management and observability stack.

Drawing from a real-world 33-hour debugging effort, Juraj will walk through the system architecture, including the Linux kernel configuration, integration of sysrepo, Netopeer2, and holo-routing for NETCONF/YANG-based automation, and the use of eBPF and OpenTelemetry for observability. He’ll also cover the development of a lightweight RESTful API layer for exposing functionality.

The session offers practical insight into the design decisions, integration work, and lessons learned in building a production-grade solution aligned with DENT’s open networking goals.

Open Source Summit North America 2025

By

At Open Source Summit North America 2025 (Denver, CO, June 23–25, 2025), Kyle Swenson of Ericsson will present new upstream Linux kernel support for the LTC4266, the last major Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) chipset to be integrated. This work builds on PoE controller support funded by the DENT project, which enabled upstream drivers for the Microchip and TI chipsets. The talk will walk through the fundamentals of PoE, the in-kernel framework, user-space control interface, and the specifics of the new LTC4266 driver, marking an important milestone in building out comprehensive PoE support in Linux networking.

Extending Power Over Ethernet to the LTC4266 – Kyle Swenson, Ericsson Software Technology: June 23, 3:35–4:15 MDT
